“Helped build an EV charging network that was acquired by a public company in 2020.”
Electric cars were arriving. The infrastructure wasn’t.
U-Go began building an EV charging network in 2010, when public charging was still largely uncharted territory.
One of the installations pictured here is Vermont’s first modern-day EV charging station, a Level 2 charger. The other jumps forward to a Level 3 fast charger at another U-Go location.
While much of the industry raced to build as quickly as possible, U-Go grew more deliberately, using state grants to develop a targeted portfolio of charging locations and relationships alongside a deep understanding of the emerging industry.
EV adoption took longer than many expected. Competitors that invested too far ahead of demand disappeared.
U-Go was ultimately acquired for both its charging portfolio and the knowledge and relationships behind it.
